What is a QR ordering system for restaurants?

A QR ordering system lets guests scan a code at the table, see the restaurant’s digital menu on their own phone and place an order without waiting for a server. In a connected system the order is attached to that table, sent to the kitchen and added to the bill the staff already see.

  • Dinivoo QR codes come in four types: table, takeaway, general and marketing.
  • Every scan is recorded before the guest reaches the menu, so you can see which codes bring orders in.
  • Download codes as PNG, SVG or PDF, including a print-ready sheet for every table.

Table QR codes carry the table they belong to. When a guest orders, the items join that table’s dining session — so staff see one bill, the kitchen sees one ticket stream and nobody re-keys a phone order into the till.

Guests can keep ordering through the meal; the table is settled at the POS when they are ready to pay.

Digital menu

One menu, edited once

Categories, photos, descriptions, modifier groups and featured items are managed in one menu. Item photos are cropped to a consistent shape when you upload them, so the menu looks deliberate on every phone.

Sold out at 9pm? Switch the item off and it disappears from QR, storefront and POS at the same moment. Branches can turn individual items on or off for their own location.

What it does not do

  • Guests cannot pay online — payment is taken at the restaurant (cash or card on your machine) and recorded at the POS.
  • The guest-facing menu and QR ordering go live once the Dinivoo team activates your restaurant workspace.
  • No allergen or dietary labels on menu items yet.

Frequently asked questions

Do guests need to download an app to order?
No. Scanning the code opens your menu in the phone’s browser.
Can guests pay through the QR menu?
Not online. Dinivoo does not process diner payments. Guests order through the QR menu and pay at the restaurant, and staff record the payment against the table.
Is a QR menu the same as QR ordering?
A QR menu only shows the menu. QR ordering lets the guest place the order too. Dinivoo does both: the same code opens your live digital menu and lets the guest order to their table.
Can I see which QR codes are used?
Yes. Each scan is recorded, and the QR report shows scans and the orders that followed. Marketing codes let you compare placements such as a flyer and a shopfront window.
What happens when an item sells out?
Mark it unavailable once and it disappears from the QR menu, the online storefront and the POS together.
