Kitchen display system

A kitchen display system that sends every ticket to the right station

Orders from the POS, QR tables and your online storefront arrive on one kitchen display, already split by the station that cooks them.

Each ticket is timed from the moment it fires and turns amber, then red, as it ages — so the pass can see what is late before a guest asks.

What is a kitchen display system?

A kitchen display system (KDS) replaces printed kitchen dockets with screens. Orders appear on the station that has to prepare them, cooks mark items as started and ready, and an expo screen sees when a whole order can leave the pass. Because tickets are timed, the kitchen can see delays as they build.

  • Dinivoo routes items by menu category or by individual item, and one item can go to more than one station.
  • Anything without a route falls back to a General station, so no ticket is ever invisible.
  • The board refreshes every few seconds and can play a sound when a new ticket arrives.
Station routing

Grill sees grill. Pastry sees pastry.

Create prep stations for each section of the line and an expo station for the pass. Route whole categories (all burgers to grill) or single items (the dessert platter to pastry) — whichever matches how your kitchen really works.

Modifiers and notes travel with the item, so “no onion” is on the screen of the cook who would have added it.

  • Prep and expo stations
  • Route by category or item
  • Items on several stations
  • General fallback station
  • Modifiers and notes on the ticket

Ticket timing

See late tickets before the guest does

Every station has its own warning and critical thresholds — eight and fifteen minutes by default — and tickets change colour as they cross them.

All-day counts show how many of each item are waiting across open tickets, which is how a line plans the next ten minutes.

  • Warning and critical thresholds per station
  • All-day item counts
  • Accept, start, ready and bump
  • Expo bump for whole orders

Every channel, one queue

Counter, table and online orders on the same board

Dine-in, takeaway, QR table orders and storefront pickup or delivery orders all arrive on the same display with their order type shown, so packing decisions are made with the right context.

When an order is marked ready, front of house sees it at the POS and online guests see it on their order tracking page.

How it works

Set up your kitchen display in four steps

  1. 01

    Create stations

Assign categories, or individual items, to the stations that cook them.

  3. 03

    Set thresholds

What it does not do

  • Prep times are the targets you set per item and location — Dinivoo does not predict cook times.
  • Printed kitchen chits are not yet part of the kitchen workflow in the app.
  • Dinivoo does not sell kitchen screens; use any tablet or display with a browser.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

What hardware do I need for the kitchen display?
Any screen that runs a modern web browser — a tablet, an all-in-one PC or a TV with a small PC. Dinivoo does not require proprietary kitchen hardware.
Can one dish go to two stations?
Yes. An item can be routed to more than one station — for example a combo whose main goes to grill and whose side goes to fry — and the expo station sees the whole order.
Does the kitchen display show online and QR orders?
Yes. Orders from the POS, QR table ordering and the online storefront all appear on the same board with their order type.
Is there a kitchen display on the Starter plan?
Yes. The kitchen display is on every plan, and you can try it free for 30 days.
What happens if the kitchen screen loses connection?
The kitchen view keeps showing its last snapshot so the line is not left blank, and it catches up when the connection returns.
